„For over 40 years, I have been actively campaigning for women’s rights in voluntary work. It took a lot of courage, optimism, perseverance and heart and soul. It was not always easy, at that time violence against women was often a taboo subject. After a lot of preparatory work, I co-founded the autonomous women’s shelter and the association Frauen helfen Frauen e.V. in 1980. Over the years, we have succeeded in acquiring a women’s shelter. At the same time, I was involved in Pro Familia e.V. and was chairwoman from 1991 to 2023. In 1991, I was a co-founder of the Heilbronn Women’s Council, with the aim of building a network. At that time, I deviated from the typical role model and had the support of my family for my activities. In 2023, I was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit for my volunteer work. It’s nice to see that my commitment continues to bear fruit and continue to have an effect. Without committed comrades-in-arms, none of this would have been possible.“
